How it started
“Wait… you made that? Can I buy one?”
Hi, I’m Tereza. My mother-in-law, [her name], is a textile flower artist. Every time she brought her satin poinsettia somewhere, to a dinner, to church, to a holiday get-together, someone asked if they could buy it.
So we filmed every step at her worktable, slowly and up close. And because the next question was always “what would you charge for it?”, we added everything we wish we’d known about pricing and selling.

The usual shortcut for fabric flowers is a hot-glue gun. It’s fast and cheap, but on a satin petal it shows: shiny lumps, stray glue strings, a stiff ridge down the middle. We never use one on the petals. With the pressed-wire method the wire is sealed inside, and it’s the first thing people notice when they pick one up.

Americans buy over 30 million poinsettias a year, almost all in the six weeks before Christmas. It’s the best-selling flowering potted plant in the country.
Luxury stores sell faux poinsettia pieces for $89.50 a stem to $399.95 an arrangement.
Every petal edge is sealed over a flame and the wire is pressed inside the fabric, so nothing frays, sags or peels. Made this way, a bloom stays display-ready for three Christmases or more, where hot-glued fabric flowers often look tired after one.
